South Peninsula Hospital is one of numerous partnering agencies in the Southern Kenai Peninsula Communities Project which just completed the first ever community wide health needs assessment. Utilizing a partner driven model, the assessment looked at local public health essentials, community strengths and themes, local data and forces of change. Click here for the assessment results. The assessment findings are the foundation of a community health improvement plan, currently being developed by members of the community and the partners from the assessment. South Peninsula Hospital was proud to sponsor the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Homer on June 11 & 12, and had a team ready to take to the track, walking for 21 hours through the night in the fight against cancer. The team raised over $4,000, and the event raised over $65,000. You can still make a donation in support of the team by clicking here. Program offerings include fun, dynamic group classes or private, individual consultations. Topics addressed include healthy eating, blood sugar patterns, staying active, developing coping skills, understanding medications, decreasing risks and goal setting. |
