Diabetes Information
South Peninsula Hospital is pleased to offer Diabetes Self Management education, accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators.  Program offerings include fun, dynamic group classes or private, individual consultations.

Topics addressed include healthy eating, blood sugar patterns, staying active, developing coping skills, understanding medications, decreasing risks and goal setting.

Better Choices, Better Health
South Peninsula Hospital will offer a series of six, 2 ½ hour classes to assist participants to self-manage their health and learn tools to feel better and be less limited by their chronic conditions. People with many kinds of long term conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease and other ongoing conditions can benefit. A spouse, family member, or friend is welcome to attend the session with the person who is managing a chronic illness. The classes are led by Mary Fries, RN, Health Educator, Peggy Ellen Kleinleder RN, Nurse Educator, Denice Clyne and Pene Anderson, Certified Chronic Disease Self Management Facilitators. Leaders use a peer empowerment model to help participants manage symptoms, identify and reach personal health goals, and get more out of life.

The current Better Choices, Better Health session will run from Sept 30 through Nov 4 from 530 PM to 8PM at the hospital’s Training Center at 203 Pioneer Avenue. The cost is $10 for the 6 week session. To register and for more information please call 235-0259.
