The remodel at South Peninsula Hospital is now complete and open for patient use.  Construction of an addition to house a new MRI unit is underway near the hospital's main entrance, which has limited the parking available at that entrance.  Patients and visitors are encouraged be dropped off at the main entrance or consider using the Bartlett Street parking lot and entrance to access patient care areas.

New features of the remodel include a remodeled and relocated family birthing center with three spacious labor/delivery/postpartum suites overlooking Kachemak Bay.  The Surgery Center has recently been remodeled and expanded to include outpatient suites for common day-surgery procedures, a registration area, new waiting area and additional pre and post surgery areas.  A designated hospital entrance for outpatient procedures makes for convenient, private access to the department.

The laboratory has relocated to the upper level of the hospital, now located conveniently near the main entrance just beyond the imaging department waiting room.  Outpatient visitors to the lab are asked to use the main entrance on the upper level and check in at registration before proceeding to the lab.  The Pharmacy has also been expanded and relocated to the upper level of the hospital, centrally located between all of the clinical areas.

The final piece of the multi-phase remodel and expansion of the hospital is the MRI addition, which should be complete by January, finishing the five year project which started in 2005 with a new Main Entrance and Emergency Department and most recently completed 18 private patient rooms and a rooftop helistop.  More information about the remodel can be found by contacting Derotha Ferraro, Director of Public Relations, at 907-235-0397.
