South Peninsula Hospital Foundation

South Peninsula Hospital Foundation is an independent, non-profit, charitable and fund-raising organization dedicated to the benefit and welfare of the people of the southern Kenai Peninsula, and committed to supporting the mission of South Peninsula Hospital. 

The Foundation supports the hospital by investing, managing and using gifts to the Hospital in accordance with the purposes stated in the articles of incorporation.  The Foundation grants scholarships to the Kachemak Bay Campus of the Kenai Peninsula College U.A.A. each semester for two students seeking a degree as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and two students pursuing a degree in other related health care fields.  The Foundation supports educational programs to train staff, health care personnel, and health care givers.  Funds also support community health information, wellness programs, speakers and seminars.  The Foundation assists in funding capital improvement projects at the hospital that are not included in the general operating budget.   Recently support was provided for:

Facilities and Equipment
Hospital Art Gallery program
Shelving for the Auxiliary Gift Shop
Community outreach to promote the need for the hospital expansion
New A/V equipment for the hospital's conference room
New projector for use by the SPH education department
Digital camera for the sexual assault response team
Materials and supplies related to the display of donated art
Information and literature racks for health promotion throughout the hospital
Support for the Serenity Garden and the hospital's front entrance

Enhancing Patient Care
Supplies for the handmade teddy bears given to children receiving care at the hospital
Grants for diabetes education

Supporting Health, Education and Information
Scholarships for Certified Nursing Assistant training at the Kenai Peninsula College
Scholarships for other health degrees at the Kenai Peninsula College
Donation towards the community health improvement plan
Scholarship for clinical staff to attend American Cancer Society trainings

The Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees, and meets quarterly in the hospital's conference room.  Call 235-0397 to learn the next meeting date and time.
