This section was designed for you, the community. Forums, classes and links to resources are but a few of the ways that SPH does outreach to promote health and wellness to the community. Some of our regular offerings to the community include Living Well/Better Choices,Better Health, which is a chronic disease self-management program. Safe Sitter Programs are offered four times yearly; twice in the summer and once each holiday school break. Diabetes self-management is also offered on an ongoing basis. Click on the diabetes button below and go to the hospital diabetes page on the link menu for more information.

For the health care providers in our community, Basic Life Support classes are offered through the SPH Education Department. Call 235-0259 for more information. Heartsaver CPR and First Aid classes are available to the public on-line through the American Heart Association. Skills check can be done through the SPH Education Department.

Most public forums are free and at the SPH Training Center on Pioneer Avenue.  safe kids

South Peninsula Hospital is a partner in MAPP of the Southern Kenai Peninsula. As a member of the healthy lifestyles group, I took on the assignment of coming up with suggestions for "Healthy Lifestyle Choices at Community Events." The group provided a lot of suggestions and fine tuning and so MAPP is ready to launch our suggestion list. SPH has already committed to providing healthy food at it's forums and other educational offerings. We thought it would be great to share the ideas that have worked for us. The response from the community has been very positive!
